Dugong Mozambique is set amongst ancient cashew trees and tranquil gardens, the quiet ambience of coastal life drifts by at your own pace at Dugong Lodge.

We offer four fully equipped self- catering Beach Lodges and six self-catering Chalets. All are equipped with the luxuries of home away from home, the Lodges and Chalets are all air conditioned and have fans. The units are serviced daily by our friendly and caring staff. We offer both luxury and intimacy for those seeking the ultimate adventure getaway in the Bazaruto Archipelago.

For the quiet days at “Lodge” – when exploring the island or fishing the deep blue seem excessive – relax by Dugong’s exquisite infinity pool set amongst expansive tropical gardens overlooking the sea. Our pool is perfectly suited to children, games and sun tanning and one can enjoy sun downers in our alfresco bar “The Wrecked Mermaid,” with its beautiful deck overlooking the beach.

Dugong Lodge is an idyllic, self- catering destination; however, we also offer our guests a fully catered option. Meals include classic full breakfasts and dinners of delicious Mozambique cuisine including seafood, Dugong’s famous piri- piri chicken and other mouth-watering meals. All meals are served in our dining room or around our communal braai area which is well known for its festivity. A number of bars and restaurants in Inhassoro provide visitors with an alternative to drinking and dining at Dugong.

Family holidays at the beach just wouldn’t be the same without a dabble in the surf and there is lots of fun to be had on your doorstep while staying at Dugong Lodge. We have a number of surf accessories including snorkelling gear, kayaks and boat charters with a competent skipper. Dugong Lodge Inhassoro is ‘fun central’ when it comes to accessing the many marvels of the Bazaruto Archipelago. Charter one of our boats and visit the spectacular coral reefs at Santa Carolina (Paradise Island) with its pristine beaches, turquoise, clear blue water in which you will discover many species of colourful fish in their natural habitat of vibrant coral. For the more adventurous, a visit to Pansy Island, Two Mile Reef and Bazaruto Spit is a must. Take advantage of the waves at Bazaruto Spit and try your hand at body surfing, or, walk on the beach and collect beautiful shells. You may be lucky enough to see the many Flamingos which use the bay to rest while on their travels.

The surrounding waters are known for world class fishing. Fishing charters can be arranged with an experienced guide.

Or Charter a boat and see the seasonal Humpback Whale migration.

Perhaps take a drive along the north beach road on top of the red cliffs and experience the view of the sea with its lively surf and expansive white beaches and dunes or go surf fishing at the Bartholomew Dias peninsula.

Visit Inhassoro’s local market with its wild fruit, limited fresh vegetables and of course wonderful variety of fresh fish. Buy colourful sarongs and local art work. Inhassoro has a beautiful Catholic Church and school which are well worth visiting.

Dugong Lodge hosts three fishing tournaments annually. These are CADSAS Kid’s Competition in April, CADSAS All Species in May or June and the CADSAS Billfish Tournament in October. Catch and Release is practiced and encouraged at all of the competitions.

Come and experience our wonderful hospitality and beautiful surroundings.
